Location: Central Exhibition Centre, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Didcot, UK
Attendees: All welcome
Costs: Free
Table Top exhibition: £30 exc. Vat. Limited spaces available
The event will look at the area of Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD), thin film coating technology that makes it possible to control thickness at the sub-nanometre scale. The ALD event will see presentations from key players in this industry including Metryx, Beneq, Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology and the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC). and will give delegates an insight into the technique of ALD and how to control and monitor the process, key inforamtion on pre cursors with a focus on applications in lighting displays and high performance CMOS semiconductors. A debate has also been for the afternoon which will focus on the current standing of the UK both academically and industrially and where market opportunities exist and created through commercialization of IP as well as strategic partnerships. The event will feature a table top exhibition offering unique opportunities for companies to show- case their products and services.
The nanotechnology industry is relatively new and there are a number of gaps in the supply chain that prohibit products getting to market in an effective manner. One of the main remits of the focus group is to analyse this supply chain, determine where these gaps are and encourage companies to recognise the commercial gains to be reaped in bridging them.

Nano Micro Systems Focus Group
This ALD focus group meeting is one of several meetings which will be organised by JEMI and the Nanotechnology KTN. The Nano Micro Systems Focus Group will evaluate the issues of the supply chain for the Nanotechnology sector looking to supply into the Microelectronics, MEMS and other emerging hi-tech sectors. The focus group will promote the commercial benefits of establishing an end-to-end supply chain, to enable UK technology innovators to get products to market faster. In doing so, gaps will be identified and recommendations for capitalising on the opportunities these gaps present will be more reachable.
This Nano Micro focus Group meeting is organised by JEMI UK in partnership Nanotechnology KTN and supported by the UKDL . For additional information about the Micro:Nano Group see www.ailu.org.uk/micro-nano.
