JEMI UK Ltd launches its new technical program
JEMI UK is the Joint Equipment and Materials Initiative. It is the only
association truly representing the interests of manufacturers and
suppliers of equipment, materials and services for Semiconductor
production across the UK and Ireland.
As part of the value added services offered to its members, JEMI
organises technical visits to major fabs across the UK and Europe. The
purpose of these visits is to give members access to major organisations
not usually open to them and encourages member to member networking.
Previous visits have included Intel Ireland, Philips Semiconductor,
Infineon and IQE.
The next JEMI organised technical visit will be to Zarlink Advanced
Electronic Packaging in Caldicot, Wales on the 25th September.
Zarlink are experts in delivering semiconductor solutions that drive the
capabilities of voice, enterprise, broadband and wireless communications
and the visit will provide the perfect opportunity for members to gain
an in-depth insight into the company while further increasing their
company contacts.
Zarlink speakers will discuss the challenges and opportunities
associated with wireless medical devices and the Benefits of European
and DTI collaborations.
JEMI invited speakers include Chris Williams from the Displays and
lighting KTN discussing the possibility of supplying LED's for the
Olympics and Andrew Philips from Cambridge University discussing a new
collaborative programme regarding LED's.
A table-top exhibition will also take place throughout the day, allowing
members to market their latest technology.
The visits represent a unique way for the host fabs engineering staff to
meet new contacts in their own facility without the need to travel. The
meetings also ensure that the networking takes place in a less pressured
environment than normal sales or technical meetings would allow when
everyone tends to be under intense time pressure and there is little
time to explore new ideas.
The next JEMI technical visit will be to Rockwood Electronic Materials
on the 14th November.
