Tyndall National Institute, part of University College Cork, is Ireland’s largest research institute, and undertakes leading edge research & development and fourth level education in Information and Communications Technology [ICT] hardware.
Research is undertaken in the three inter-related areas of Photonics, Micro-Nanoelectronics and Microsystems, and is focused on excellence and the delivery of value from research to Ireland’s emerging knowledge economy.

Tyndall’s Central Fabrication Facilities (CFF) underpin these research activities and provides advanced materials and device processing capabilities to researchers in Ireland, international research collaborators, R&D partners from industry and new start-up companies.

The CFF operates a flexible CMOS fabrication area under an ISO9000 accredited Quality Management Systems and supports researchers with a comprehensive range of services from device design and fabrication through to characterisation.

Applications are invited for the position of Sales & Marketing Executive to significantly expand the CFF activities and related business with industry over the next the next five years, for which ambitious targets are already in place.
The successful candidate will be expected to:

Drive sales and marketing initiatives to expand business activities and revenues from existing customers and, in particular, develop/source substantial new business from new customers internationally.

Build new CFF customer relationships across Tyndall’s network of partners and plan for the introduction of emerging new technologies and products, from its strategic and expanding research programmes

Develop, support and execute marketing and business development strategies for exploitation of Tyndall’s extensive fabrication capabilities, proprietary knowledge base and intellectual property portfolio.

Proactively manage and develop existing and new customer relationships.

The successful applicant will report to the Head of Business Development and work closely with the Head of CFF Operations and a team of experienced researchers and engineers.

It is expected that this position will require frequent international travel and the organisation of customer visits to the Tyndall facilities in Ireland.

Suitable candidates should have a degree in the physical or materials or life sciences, microelectronics or electrical engineering , preferably relevant PhD or M.Sc. and/or other post graduate business training, have excellent communication, organisational and management skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Experience in sales and marketing within the semiconductor, materials, devices or systems sectors of the ICT industry is essential. Knowledge of the ICT technology sector, market trends, business development and technology roadmaps would also be highly desirable.

Competitive OTE Salary range commensurate with experience and qualifications

IMPLANT ENGINEER – Salary £22,000 to £32,000 pa 16/10/06

Our company, based in South of UK, is a service company working within the semiconductor industry (Ion  implantation) is looking for an implant Engineer.

You must have an advanced degree level qualifications and a previous experience in similar position. You have some very good technical practices (mechanical, electronic, vacuum) and want to get involve into a challenging position.You will have to demonstrate excellent communication skills, and self motivated attitude as well as a good understanding of quality systems andcustomer oriented business.

Duties will include:

- Equipment: Ensure equipments availability. Schedule planning of equipment routine maintenance and perform curative actions. Qualify equipments for production after downtime.

- Management: You will be in charge of a small production team. You will coordinate: planning, vacation, replacement, training…

- Production/Process: Ensure equipment is providing required process within expected specifications (customer requirements), record and analyze performance and environmental data (particles and uniformity tests results), proceed with corrective action plan if required.

- QHSE: Respect and apply the Health & Safety and the Quality
procedures.

Material Scientist

The work is focused on identification, definition and implementation of material characterisation methods for key material parameters needed in the company’s MEMS product development. The materials to be covered include organic, dielectric and metallic thin film materials typically used in CMOS BEOL processing. 

A close cooperation with external partners as well as the co-ordination of all outsourcing activities is expected The work includes setting-up, tracking and analysis of DOEs (statistical Design Of Experiments), development reporting and maintenance of the appropriate material databases on the company documentation tracking system. 

Job Description: 

- Perform materials characterization, support in-line inspection and device failure analysis operations
- Develop and implement appropriate analysis techniques for advanced CMOS BEOL processes (e.g. aluminium/copper metallization)
- Technical expert for materials analysis operations 
- Cooperate with internal and external groups (process/ design engineering, product engineering and analysis labs)
- Qualification and monitoring of all thin film activities and manufacturing line support 

Qualifications: 

- Degree in Chemistry, Material Science or equivalent 

Experience: 

- Min. 2-3 years work experience with focus on semiconductor materials and processing
- Good knowledge of methods for material analysis 
- Ability to work independently 
- Excellent communication and team skills are highly valued 
- Good English language 
- Presentation skills

MEMS Design & Test Engineer

Description:

As part of the MEMS Modeling and Design team you will be working on the MEMS related aspects of our product line. Your tasks will be mostly R&D related with the main focus on MEMS modeling, design and testing. The job involves day-to-day interaction with the CMOS Design team and the Process Development team. Your responsibilities will include the development of detailed models for novel MEMS devices and the development of specific R&D test methodology for the MEMS components.

Responsibilities:

Detailed modeling and design of MEMS devices
·         
Design for MEMS process flow
·         
Integration of MEMS process into CMOS
·         
Test engineering for wafer and component for MEMS/CMOS products
·         
Analysis of test problems, failure analysis and problem solution 
·         
Creation of test programs for test vehicles 
·         
Manual re-test for evaluations 
·         
Integration of above strategy into design methodology and flow

Required qualifications/Experience:

·         
M.S. or PhD in electronics, physics or information technology
·         
Strong theoretical and experimental knowledge of MEMS and minimum 2 years working experience in the MEMS field (with 5 years strongly desired)
·         
Experience with MEMS design and modeling packages (e.g. finite element and analytical tools, physical layout)
·         
Experience in wafer and component test for MEMS products
·         
Experience in R&D test development
·         
Knowledge of test systems, probe cards and test programming (memory testers, as well as general (digital) SoC testers is a plus)
·         
Experience with reliability testing and failure analysis of MEMS and/or CMOS parts
·         
Fluent English
·         
Computer knowledge: PC and Unix based systems
·         
Team player in an international team
·         
Good communication and interpersonal skills

Other information:

This role is the interface for the MEMS, CMOS Design and Process Development teams. As such you should also have excellent communication skills, flexible and pragmatic in your approach as well as an open and engaging personality, facilitating the interaction with the different groups in the company. A reasonable amount of European travel is required as well (mainly
Netherlands and Germany ).
