The
IGDS MSc programme ‘Advanced Silicon Processing and
Manufacturing Technologies’ is sponsored by EPSRC and NMI.
It has been developed and is delivered by a consortium of ten
major
UK
universities in conjunction with several leading silicon
companies. It is a part time, modular, postgraduate, masters
programme, aimed at engineers and scientists employed within
the silicon industry, as well as technicians wanting to expand
their knowledge and career prospects. Registered Delegates may
undertake a full MSc, Diploma, Certificate or Single Module.
Under
the banner ‘University Network for the Silicon Industry’,
the programme is co-ordinated on behalf of the consortium, at
the University
of Surrey
by
Professor Peter Hemment and Mrs Sandy Peace. There are up to
16 modules from which to choose (Module 1 – Introduction to
IC Technology is compulsory), each lasting approximately 12
weeks with a one week residential period. Full details and
application forms may be found on the website by clicking this icon.
The
ten universities involved in this project are:-
Edinburgh,
Glasgow,
Heriot-Watt,
Liverpool
, UMIST,
Newcastle,
Southampton,
Surrey,
Cardiff
and
Swansea.
Initially
the programme was aimed at UK
semiconductor companies, but is now offered to European
companies as well (JEMI
