Chairman- Ian Tonge

iantonge

Ian Tonge is Business Development Manager for CH2M HILL and has been with the company since 2002. He has worked in engineering and construction for over 30 years, specialising in cleanroom technology and providing stringently controlled manufacturing and research facilities and environments for nanotechnology, semiconductors, MEMS and other technology-intensive applications. He has worked as a design engineer, project manager and senior manager. He has been on the board of JEMI since 1998 and is also a director of S2K.

Business Manager - Claire Watson

 

 After leaving secondary school Claire went onto complete an HNC in Social Sciences at Edinburgh’s Telford College. She has previous industry experience working at the SMC (Scottish Microelectronics Centre) for two years where she provided business services to both the existing and prospective clients. Claire joined JEMI in September 2009 and is responsible for maintaining and developing relationships with the members of the organisation, as well as extending the membership network and organising the technical visits.

Mike Smyth is EMEA Business Manager for Oxford Instruments Plasma Technology. Mike has worked in semiconductor/ nanotechnology industry areas for many years, with time spent running sales in USA and Asia - but mainly in EMEA. He has a detailed knowledge of the UK and European industry both in mainstream silicon and compound semiconductors, as well as strong links to the academic sector. In addition to serving as a Director of JEMI UK, he is Chairman of Semiconductor 2K , having helped to found the conference.

Director - Ian Burnett

Following an education in Electrical Engineering and then Mechanical and Production Engineering at Loughborough and Leicester University, Ian became a practised team player and proven leader in the fast moving semiconductor equipment industry. In his 20 + years of experience, Ian has held Directorships in 7 Companies, four start-ups, one trade association, a business incubator and one a rescue. Three Companies have been sold via trade sales and remain active under new ownership. Ian has been active in setting up subsidiary companies in European and Asian Countries, and has experience as part of a core team, in raising finance, preparation of business plans, joint ventures and Company disposals and has a broad general management experience typical in smaller businesses. Ian is a past member of the National Advisory Committee for Electrical and Electronic Devices and Materials and a past Chairman of the Scottish Microelectronics Centre, a business incubator located in Edinburgh. Since the sale of WED in 1997, Ian has been running his own business, IDB Technologies Ltd which sells equipment and materials used for semiconductor manufacture. The business has 3 employees and has approximately £1.5m of sales.

Director -Chris Mison

Chris Mison is the European OEM Sales Manager for Shimadzu Vacuum products, and has been with the company since 2006. Chris has been involved within the vacuum industry since 1986 where he has had extensive experience in Product Management, and Sales Management for vacuum instrumentation and pumps. He is a specialist working with the vacuum OEMs operating in the Semiconductor and Nanotechnology fields as well as emerging technologies such as Photo Voltaic cell production, and flat panel displays. His career highlights include launching a portable GCMS for environmental analysis, used for detection of substances, associated with chemical warfare. He has been on the board of JEMI since 2005 and is also a director of S2K.

Iain was educated at Nottingham University gaining a BSc in Production engineering and Production management. His career initially was based on electronics manufacturing, working at increasingly senior levels for companies including Marconi Space and Defence, Burroughs Machines, Solectron and three SME start ups. In 2000 Iain moved to SMC as CEO Under his direction the company has evolved from a business incubator into a Centre of excellence for R & D and incubation supporting the Semiconductor and MEMS industry.

Dr Alec Reader is Director of the Nanotechnology Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) and has thirty years commercial experience, working most recently in plastic electronics with Philips the Nederlands, Innos and Polymer Vision. As a member of the senior management team and board at Innos, he was instrumental in bridging the gap between industry needs and academic expertise in the fabrication sector and firmly establishing its reputation for R&D expertise in the UK.

Director- David Dingley

Dr David Dingley MBA is Business Manager of the Shimadzu Vacuum Europe division at Kratos Analytical Ltd, a 100% subsidiary of the Shimadzu Corp, Kyoto Japan. David has many years experience of the scientific instruments industry, and is a relative newcomer to the semiconductor sector. He is currently secretary and board member of JEMI and has also been a director of S2K since its inception in 1999.

Director- Willie Revolta
revolta

William Revolta recently retired from his post as Development and Sales Manager with the DuPont Company Elastomers business. William worked in a number of roles in elastomer and sealing technology for over 30 years. The last 12 years were focused on the development and supply of sealing systems and materials, specifically designed to meet the ever changing needs of semiconductor and nanotechnology manufacturing.
William represents JEMI UK on the United Kingdom Electronic Alliance (UKEA) and the Electronics Regulatory Group (ERG); providing representation of the views and needs of JEMI members and also advanced information on important legislation and decisions that affect the industry and its members. William currently serves as a board member of both JEMI UK and S2K.
