Regions (IAN Regions)

The International Alliance of Nanotechnology Regions (IANRegions) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to creating and sustaining a global network of nanotechnology hubs. IANRegions seeks to accelerate the pace of innovation and growth of the nanoelectronics (semiconductor) and nanosystems (MEMS) industries by facilitating trade and research partnerships between regional nanotechnology hubs.

Level Integration

The Institute for System Level Integration provides postgraduate education, professional training and research in system level integration and system-on-chip technologies. Its aim is to support the development of electronics systems design worldwide and to encourage the exploration of new technologies through research.

ARCSIS is the trade association for the microelectronics and semiconductor activities in the Provence-Alps-Riviera (PACA) region, in France. It participates in assuring sustainability, full economic development and enhanced competitiveness of the regional microelectronics and communicating objects industry. Its 56 members include industries as well as research centres and universities.ARCSIS also manages a major collaborative research and development program – CIM PACA (PACA Integrated Microelectronics Centre). CIM PACA groups together the microelectronics community around three interconnected platforms: Design, Characterization and Micro-PackS.
ARCSIS is a key member of the world-ranking competitiveness cluster Secure Communicating Solutions.

Nanotechnology KTN

The Nanotechnology KTN was established by the Technology Strategy Board (TSB) as a successor to the MNT Network. The Nanotechnology KTN facilitates the transfer of knowledge and experience between industry and research, offering companies dealing in small-scale technology access to information on new processes, patents and funding as well as keeping up-to-date with industry regulation. The four broad areas that the KTN focuses on are:
           Promoting and facilitating knowledge exchange
           Supporting the growth of UK capabilities
           Raising awareness of Nanotechnology
           Providing thought leadership and input to UK policy and strategy

These four offerings are targeted at growing and strengthening the micro and nanotechnologies (MNT) community.

UKAEA

The UK Electronic Alliance (UKEA) was formed in response to the Electronics Innovation and Growth Team (EIGT) Report, which was published by the DTI in 2005.

The EIGT Report stated ‘that the fragmented, diverse nature of the (electronics) industry, and its difficulty representing itself to Government and vice versa, led to delays in addressing some of the key issues which impact on its performance’.
